Experts can identify the producer with one glance at the can code. Formerly, the code was stamped in. Nowadays, it is imprinted by inkjet printer and can vary. In Southern Italy, for example, each producer has his own code for the factory, e. g. ANB1 = Eurocom. Behind it, is a letter or a number for the year of production, followed by three numbers such as 223 which indicate the day 223 of the calendar year. Above that, it is increasingly common to combine it with the time of day to see the exact production date. Modern factories can even imprint the intern batch number of the importer. This way, the traceability of the product according to IFS Broker is guaranteed. Furthermore, the best-before date is mostly also imprinted on the can lid.
